Ways to Improve your Website Ranking
Hate it or like it but the only way to survive and to ensure that your Web Design stays at the top in this environment is to adopt Google’s way of doing things. Few SEO strategies have stood the test of time while others have been short-changed with time. On my quest to make my webpage stay relevant and authoritative, I studied these 6 factors and proved their efficiency.
1. Make your Site Mobile Friendly:
This started to matter a few years ago when Google declared that mobile-fast websites will be prioritized when it came to ranking websites. What prompted this was the high number of searches that were being done on mobile devices compared to desktops. The search giant today uses mobile-first indexing for more than half the pages shown in search results worldwide.
Previously, Google used to rank websites based on the desktop version. In Mobile-first indexing, Google uses the user experience on mobile devices as a yardstick to establish website to rank. If your website is not responsive or intuitive enough on mobile devices, you will rank low on Google.
When seeking SEO Service, you better make your website mobile-friendly because, in the future, they will rank web entirety using the mobile user-friendly websites. For unresponsive websites, they should at least align mobile content with the desktop version to make it mobile user-friendly.
2. Optimize your Website Speed
Slow websites give visitors headaches and they will at all means avoid them like a plague. Websites with optimized speed, on the other hand, are receptive and users find them easy to use and engage with. In other words, high-speed websites rank better in search engines.
Google cherishes user experience and it is one of the many aspects that determine ranking. Slow websites don’t impress visitors and they simply click away if they realize that the speed is not optimized. Moving to mobile devices and advanced technologies in running websites have reduced the attention span of many website visitors.
It now means you have very little time to make the right impression and no visitor is going to be impressed with low speeds. This means that the price for speeding up websites and user experience will skyrocket in the future. Google has even announced that page speed will be a ranking factor for mobile searches.
Just like cars, many things can slow websites down. Websites, however, don’t need a mechanic to rectify their speeds. You just need tools like Google’s PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix that are freely available.
3. Use Backlinks for Domain Authority
Google has used backlinks for long to sort out high quality and relevant web pages from low-quality pages. Their use of backlinks is not similar to other search engines. They use a formula that ranks web pages according to the quality and quantity of other pages that link to that particular page.
That means that if the backlink quality will affect your SEO ranking if they are not of high quality. However, backlinks are prone to manipulation and that’s why in 2012 Google performed an update that sort to punish unnatural backlinks to spam sites and at the same time rewarded legitimate backlinks.
Nowadays, natural backlinks are assets to get your web page on the first few pages of search engines. The problem is convincing authoritative websites to link back to you. You need to put a lot of effort and you need to think outside the box to inform them what you are trying to achieve.
However, this is a better option than trying to cheat your way into the system to get better ranking. If you get caught, the consequences will have adverse effects on your website and the entire business. Your URL may even get kicked out from search results for good.
4. Focus on Topic First then Keywords
Another very important aspect of SEO ranking is keyword targeting, which has gradually made way for topic targeting. What triggered this was the realization of a holistic approach for user satisfaction.
SEO experts have gone a step ahead and try to establish the reason for searches rather than concentrating on searches alone. This approach allows SEO experts to conceptualize and create content that aims to satisfy a need. This means that you have to establish a topic first before going into keyword research.
Google has the power to understand the user’s intention of searching for a specific search term or keyword, therefore, it’s important for you to utilize these pointers and capitalize on it to create satisfying content. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t use the right keywords; it simply means that you should offer more than just bare information.
5. Create High-Quality Content
We all know what high-quality content means, but for those who don’t quality content is a combination of original, unique, engaging, and valuable material. It should provide the right answers to user’s questions in a comprehensive and detailed manner.
The content should also be simple enough for an average person to understand. The content should have the business objectives in mind, spread the brand’s awareness, and generate conversation to pump in traffic for greater ranking. It doesn’t only focus on text but also images, videos, charts, diagrams, and quizzes all to enhance the user experience. Credibility also contributes to quality content that eventually improve your website ranking .
6. Use Rich Snippets and Structured Data
Rich Snippets are also great influencers of SEO rankings. They help you build your presence in search engine results using structured data and featured snippets. Google’s definition of structured data is a standardized format for classifying a page’s content. Structured data can be added by anyone using markup tools like Schema.org.
Final Thoughts
I trust that these 6 strategies will guide you to your SEO goals. There are plenty of other strategies which have not been proven yet. These will work very well for any business and you won’t need to struggle so much. Establishing a high domain authority requires the right effort and time, therefore take time to research on other strategies since search engine algorithms keep on changing every day.
