Google Launches New Hindi Promotion Tools. Indian Language Internet Alliance Announced
Google announced several initiatives today to encourage Hindi content over the internet. The company is all set to establish a publishers group named ‘Indian Language Internet Alliance’. The alliance will include major Indian media houses including Amar Ujala and Times Internet Limited.
Google also announced Voice search in Hindi; a new Hindi keyboard (Google Hindi Input) and a website for Hindi content: hindiweb.com. This Hindi keyboard will support predictive text support. While typing, it will show the suggestions to complete the word. This feature is already there on Android-One devices.
Google has also made available several Hindi fonts on website google.com/fonts. These are Open Source fonts and available to the all the devices and platforms. With the initiative announced, Google plans to add thirty million Hindi speaking people by 2017.
Google search VP, Amit Singhal told that at Google their motive is to make information available to everyone. This imitative will cover several million first time Indian internet users too.
