Most of the bloggers, including me, are always anxious about site speed jinx when adding images to the posts. We do add third party plugins for lazy loading or ask developers to help with lines of dousing codes to get away with declining WordPress side speed.
WordPress 5.4 to Add Lazy-Loading by Default
The good news is that WordPress is now arriving with default lazy loading to the images. The feature will be available with WordPress 5.4 that’s scheduled to be launched on March 31, 2020.
The announcement has come from WordPress itself. The feature, once enabled, will add “loading” HTML attribute on all IMG elements. This will keep the requirement of adding third party lazy loading plugins at bay.
Lazy loading will be available for following images:
The lazy-loading is an HTML attribute that conveys a browser whether to download images right now or wait before downloading. No JavaScript code is needed to run the lazy loading feature.
There are two Lazy-loading attributes that mater the most:
Lazy Load:
This Lazy loading is one that’s going to be a default feature in WordPress 5.4. It will enable browsers to pause image download until the users browser viewport is within a certain distance. In this way, loading speed and user experience will go up at an extent.
Eager:
Unlikely, the “eager” lazy loading attribute tells the browser to immediately download the image.
