Mobile Dependency:
Telegram Web requires your mobile device to be connected to the internet and logged into your Telegram account. It acts as an extension of your mobile app.
Limited Features:
Some advanced features, like creating secret chats, voice and video calls, and some privacy settings, are often more accessible on the mobile app.
Notifications:
Mobile apps can provide more extensive notification options, including push notifications, which are not available on the web version.
Mobile-Specific Features:
Certain mobile-specific features, such as location sharing and mobile device-specific actions (like tapping on a phone number to call), are not available on the web.

Voice and Video Calls
Making Calls on Telegram Web:
While voice and video calls are more commonly associated with the mobile app, Telegram Web does allow you to make voice calls to your contacts. Simply click on a contact’s profile picture in the chat list to open their profile, then click the phone icon to initiate a voice call.
Group Video Calls
As of my last update in September 2021, group video calls were not natively supported in Telegram Web. However, Telegram was continuously adding new features, so this functionality may have been introduced in subsequent updates.
Stickers and Emojis
Telegram Web includes an extensive library of stickers and emojis that you can use to express yourself in chats. You can access stickers and emojis by clicking on the respective icons in the chat input field. Stickers are a fun and creative way to enhance your conversations.
Secret Chats and End-to-End Encryption
Secret Chats
Telegram Web supports secret chats, which are conversations with end-to-end encryption. Secret chats are more secure because they prevent screenshots, have self-destructing messages, and do not allow forwarding. To start a secret chat on Telegram Web, you can click on a contact’s name in the chat list, and then select “Start Secret Chat.”
End-to-end Encryption
Telegram takes privacy seriously and uses end-to-end encryption for secret chats. This means that only you and the recipient can read the messages, and they are not stored on Telegram’s servers. Regular chats are also encrypted, but they are stored in the cloud for easy synchronization across devices.
Customizing Your Telegram Web Experience
Profile Picture:
To personalize your Telegram profile, click on your current profile picture in the top right corner of the Telegram Web interface. You can then choose to upload a new picture or remove the existing one. Your profile picture is what others will see when they interact with you on Telegram.
Username:
You can set a username for your Telegram account. This username is unique and can be used by others to find and message you without knowing your phone number. To set or change your username, go to “Settings” (click your profile picture, then click “Settings”) and select “Username.” Keep in mind that usernames must be unique, and once set, they cannot be changed.
Notification Settings
Customizing Notifications
To adjust your notification settings on Telegram Web, go to “Settings” and select “Notifications and Sounds.” Here, you can customize various aspects of your notifications, including message preview, message sound, and vibration settings.
Mute Chats:
You can mute individual chats or groups to stop receiving notifications from them. To do this, open the chat you want to mute, click the three-dot menu (more options) in the upper right corner, and select “Mute.” You can choose to mute the chat for a specified duration or indefinitely.

Managing Privacy Settings
Privacy and Security: Telegram takes privacy seriously, and you can manage your privacy settings to control who can interact with you. In “Settings,” select “Privacy and Security.” Here, you can set who can see your phone number, profile picture, and last seen status. You can also control who can add you to groups and who can call you.
Blocked Users:
Under “Privacy and Security” in the “Settings” menu, you can also view and manage your blocked users. If you’ve blocked someone, they won’t be able to contact you or see your profile information.
Passcode Lock:
For an added layer of security, you can set up a passcode lock for your Telegram Web account. This requires you to enter a PIN each time you access Telegram Web, even if your session is already logged in. To set up a passcode, go to “Settings” and select “Privacy and Security,” then choose “Passcode Lock.”

- Security Updates: Keep your Telegram Web client and mobile app up to date. Telegram regularly releases updates that may include security patches to protect against vulnerabilities.
- Beware of Scams: Be cautious of phishing attempts and scams. Avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing sensitive information with unknown contacts. Telegram has a reporting feature for reporting spam and suspicious activity.

Telegram collects minimal data necessary for the service to function, such as phone numbers. However, it does not share this data with third parties, and it does not have access to the content of end-to-end encrypted messages.
Privacy Settings:
Telegram provides extensive privacy settings that allow you to control who can see your phone number, profile picture, and last seen status. You can also restrict who can add you to groups and send you messages.
