The IBPS PO exam is an important professional exam if you want to get selected as a Probationary Officer at the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. For you to appear for the main IBPS PO exam, you must attempt to clear the preliminary exam of IBPS PO. Hence, it would be advisable for you to get the minimum qualifying marks available for the IBPS PO preliminary exam.

Before you write the IBPS PO exam you must know the question paper pattern. This exam consists of three main sections which are the English language section, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability.
The first section, which is the English language section, has 35 questions with each question weighing 1 mark. The second and third questions consist of 35 questions with each question weighing 1 mark. Hence, the total number of marks that can be allowed to you would be 100. Each section in the paper is timed individually with 20 minutes for each section.
Therefore, you must ensure that you prepare for the exam thoroughly. This way you will be able to answer a good amount of questions during the time of the exam and secure the qualifying marks required.

Know the syllabus
For you to prepare for the IBPS PO exam, you need to know and understand the syllabus thoroughly. As you know, there are three sections available in the exam. Each section consists of different topics and concepts which you need to learn and understand.
The first section which consists of the English Language has topics such as Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Grammar. The numerical ability section has the same topics as your 10-grade level mathematics, which is the most basic level of mathematics. The last section which consists of reasoning ability tests your analytical and reasoning abilities.
Divide your work
Once you understand the syllabus, you should list out all the topics and concepts that you find difficult and easy. Once you do so, you will be able to figure out what your weak and strong parts of the exam are.
Some of the easy topics of the exam include Percentage, Profit, Loss, Average, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Simplification, Number Systems, Number Series, Proportion and Ratio, Directions, Distance, Blood Relations, Analogy, Classification, Order, Ranking, Alphanumeric Series, Comprehension Tests, Para-Jumbles, Phrases, Idioms, Error Spotting, and Spell check.
While some of the difficult topics include, Boats and Streams, Pipes and Cisterns, Time and Work, Time, Speed and Distance, Mensuration, Probability, Permutation and Combination, Surds and Indices, Mixtures and Allegations, Mathematical inequalities, Coding-Decoding, Circular and Linear Seating Arrangements, Syllogism, Data Sufficiency, Puzzles, Antonyms, Synonyms, Cloze test, and Sentence Completion.
Some of the topics in the syllabus need direct formulas that have to be used. However, you need to keep in mind that you must be able to finish the easy sections as soon as you can. This will ensure that you have a sufficient amount of time to complete the difficult sections.
Make your timetable
After understanding the topics and concepts, you must divide your work. You should create your own timetable so you will be able to figure out how to space out your studying schedule. You should create a timetable for an entire month. In your timetable, you must add breaks in between your studies.
While making your timetable, you should even add other elements such as your office hours, daily routine, and other miscellaneous things. Once your timetable is created, you need to follow it every single day.
Therefore, you need to make sure that your timetable is durable and realistic. If you study every single day then the easy concepts and topics in the syllabus will not take more than a week or two to finish.
While you can use the remaining number of days to master all the difficult concepts and topics in the syllabus. You have to keep in mind that you should study and practice the topics and concepts every day.
Throughout the one month that you have left you should start to develop reading habits. Once you make it a habit, you will be able to score well in two of the three sections. Reading every day will help you improve your grammar and vocabulary, and it will also help you increase your reading speed.
This will also help you answer the comprehension section and para jumble test without having to spend much time on it. Apart from this, it will also help you improve your reasoning ability skills.
There are a few topics in this section that require you to understand and know the theory before you move on to solving the question. Therefore, if you read regularly then you will be able to do well in the above two sections.
