Yahoo Is Shutting Down LiveText, Yahoo Games and Yahoo Astrology
There are no signs of recovery for Trouble ridden Yahoo. After serving pink slips to over thousands of its employees a month ago, Yahoo is all set to shut down some of its products including LiveText, Yahoo Games, Yahoo Astrology and more. In a Tumbler blog post, the company wrote:
“During our last earnings call, we outlined a plan for simplifying the business and focusing on our strengths across seven core consumer products: Mail, Search, Tumblr, News, Sports, Finance and Lifestyle. After a careful evaluation, we’ve decided to make the following product decisions.”
The company will discontinue Yahoo games and publishing channel from May 13 2016. LiveText, another major product of Yahoo will also be discontinued by the end of this month.
The blog post said:
“LiveText allowed us to experiment with new user experiences and features to drive innovations across our products. We plan to incorporate the learnings and features into Yahoo products including Yahoo Messenger, our core messaging platform.”
Yahoo is also winding up its regional media properties such as Yahoo Astrology and Yahoo Maktoob in the coming weeks in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and India. Yahoo is struggling hard to reorganize its scattering business and the restructuring could be seen as company’s focuses on connecting with readers for news, sports, finance and lifestyle.
