With every Porsche 911 launch, supercar enthusiasts hold their breath. The engineers under Porsche factory roof have worked immensely and tirelessly to reinvent their technology and present to the world yet another powerful car.
Porsche 911 Turbo Features
Design remains unique yet similar, and the strength of the body has increased. People who wish to drive fast with almost no effort can look forward to driving the 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe.
For people wishing to go faster, there is the Turbo S variant, launched along with 911 Turbo with higher specifications.
Exterior:
Some notable changes in the new 911 Turbo are the wider wheels at the rear. The front part of this car is 85mm wider than the rear, which gives it a sporty stance. Its front wheels are wider too, 49mm over than the previous model.
911’s aerodynamics can be adjusted via two spoilers. Both the spoilers at the front and the back can be adjusted even while the car is moving. There is also a great improvement in the ground clearance, thus saving the underbelly from ugly scrapes.
Interior:
The contemporary 911 Turbo comes with a lot of added features for a comfortable ride. The standard Turbo model is equipped with features such as Porsche’s sports Chrono pack, LED headlights, LED interior lights, adjustable sports seats, automatic lights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, reverse camera and the Porsche’s Communication Management.
The Communication Management system enables the customer to use the in-built 7-inch touchscreen display, satellite navigation, Bluetooth and smartphone integration.
Driving and Performance:
Several driving tests were performed in wet and dry conditions. In the drier situations, 2018 Porsche 911 turbo could touch 60mph in merely 4.5 seconds. Also, with a little traction over the lower end, 30 to 70mph could be reached within 3.5 seconds.
Such performance is achieved by the new turbocharged engine. The spoilers contribute greatly to the aerodynamics and the speed. At 75mph, the two outer sections are lowered and the rear wing is lifted by 25mm. This allows the car to reach a top speed of 198mph.
Safety:
Safety of the driver and the passenger is well taken care of in the new 911 Turbo. The Porsche 911 turbo is equipped with anti-locking brakes.
This system allows the wheel to rotate while the brakes are hit. This helps the car to move during the turns instead of skidding at high speed. There is a front-impact airbag which protects the head during the frontal crash.
The side-impact airbags besides the front seat help in protecting the torso during the collision.
There are knee airbags too which help in protecting the lower extremities in case of an accident or a rollover. The Pretensioners are seatbelts which are designed in such a way that they will place the occupant in the most optimal position during the crash and tighten.
The security system is such that it can detect a vehicle intrusion or can anticipate threat. The ignition is disabled and only the correct original manufacturers’ key can be used for ignition.
Verdict:
The 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo is the perfect car for people who need more power and features in their daily driver. The safety of the driver and the occupant are well-managed, and the car offers a level of practicality yet to be seen in sports cars of such caliber.
