Nokia May Buy Alcatel Lucent For $16.6 billion

Another big acquisition is all set to happen. Nokia, the renowned cellphone manufacturer has confirmed that the company will buy French hardware and software major Alcatel-Lucent. The deal has been priced at $16.6 billion in stock.

Both the companies are almost agree on the deal terms but waiting for regulator’s approval. If Nokia is to be believed, the acquisition will be completed in the first half of year 2016. The acquistion will help both the companies to workout and push forward 5G research and development. Once acquisition realizes, they together will ovepower competitors like Ericsson and huawei.

Along with this, Nokia is also mulling on considering selling off its HERE maps business. The company may aslo look at the possibilities to invest 100 million in French startups that are focused on the Internet of Things and the industrial internet domains.
