Google Working On 5G Internet Drone Project ‘Skybender’
Guardian reports that Google is testing 5G internet drones under project name Skybender. The project is underway at Spaceport in New Mexico. The project envisions thousands of high-altitude solar-powered drones delivering internet connectivity across the globe. The Guardian broke the news referring emails exchanged between Spaceport America and Google project managers.
The project is an integral part of Google’s Loon project. The company is currently testing multiple drones carrying several prototype transceivers. Notably, these drones can transmit data up to 40 times faster than 4G LTE. This could bring about the next generation 5G wireless internet connectivity to the world.
