How To Change Default Computer Name In Windows 10
Windows 10 has several incredible features in-built that users love to explore. Despite all good things, a feature that I believe should be wiped out from Windows 10 is the default name that system generates for computer each time we install it afresh.
Windows by default tags a new name for the computer that begins with ‘DESKTOP’ followed by a string of numbers and letters. The name look likes DESKTOP-2P57JKL. So, if you too want to get out of that annoyance, you can fix it. Here is the way:
Right -click the Start button and choose System from the context menu. A window opens having a heading ‘Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings’. Find the ‘Change settings’ on the far right of that window.
Clicking on ‘Change settings’ option’ will open a third window where you can change the name of your PC to one that you’d love to. Click OK and close all the open windows. Now, you’ll be asked to restart your PC. Reboot it, and the name will be changed.
